Tesla has lost its title as the world's best-selling electric vehicle maker

Tesla has lost its title as the world's best-selling electric vehicle maker

The US firm faced an unsettled year with unease over chief executive Elon Musk's political activities, and stiff overseas competition that pushed sales down for a second year in a row.

Tesla's 1.64-million vehicle sales in 2025 is a decrease of nine-percent from a year earlier.

Chinese rival BYD , sold 2.26-million vehicles, crowning it the biggest E-V maker.
