Savannah Guthrie is doing well following vocal cord surgery

The Today Show anchor told her Instagram followers on Monday (05.01.26) that the procedure to remove her vocal nodules and a polyp was a success.

She shared a photo of herself with a whiteboard, which read: "All good! Thanks for prayers and love!" And Savannah, 54, captioned the post with: "See you soon!"

On the December 19 episode of NBC's Today, the broadcaster announced she would be taking a break from presenting the morning news programme in the New Year to undergo vocal cord surgery.

Savannah told her fellow hosts, Sheinelle Jones, 47, Craig Melvin, 46, and Al Roker, 71, that she needed her vocal nodules and a polyp to be removed, and to rest her voice after the procedure.

Vocal nodules are non-cancerous growths that can appear on one or both vocal cords, and a polyp is also an abnormal tissue growth that is usually non-cancerous.

Savannah said: "Some of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit.

"Well, I have found out what it is. I have vocal nodules, and I also have a polyp. It's not a big, big deal, but I am going to have to have a surgery in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks, so this is my last day for a little while."

She then joked that some viewers may have thought she was battling "the world's longest head cold".

Savannah then admitted she felt "really excited" to get her vocal cords sorted out because the problem had "been going on for years".

The procedure has forced her to be "totally silent" for a couple of weeks, to which Savannah joked was an early Christmas present for her 57-year-old husband, communications consultant Michael Feldman, their daughter Vale, 11, and their nine-year-old son Charley.

Sheinelle shared that she has had vocal cord surgery, and pointed out that "the silver lining is you have permission to be still. The house gets quiet, the kids are gonna want to help you out".

She then gifted Savannah a whiteboard that she could use to "speak" amid her recovery.
