Property values are gradually creeping up across the country

Property values are gradually creeping up across the country

Cotality NZ's February Home Value Index reveals a modest point-two percent rise - reversing recent falls in previous months.

Auckland property values ticked up only point-one percent - but the likes of Dunedin and Hamilton were closer to one percent.

Chief Property Economist Kelvin Davidson says it's consistent with a slightly stronger economy, lower mortgage rates and a bit more confidence in the market.

He says we shouldn't expect a boom any time soon - but we are starting to see hints of stronger property values.
