Breakers president of basketball operations Dillon Boucher's explained the new ownership group's decision to honour coach Petteri Koponen's Australian basketball league contract, which has two years left

The Kiwi side finished second-to-last in Koponen's first year in charge in the Aussie NBL, despite a hot start.

Boucher says Koponen did a fantastic job in a trying season.

Australian guard Mitch McCarron IS reportedly on his way out of the Breakers' roster for next season ... ESPN says McCarron is being released from his contract, one season into a two-year deal.
