Labour Weekend - and weather - played a big role in consumer spending in October

Worldline NZ's payment network shows spending remained relatively flat in most regions, with Wellington falling most - down 3.7 percent on last year.
People shelled out about four percent more in holiday destinations including Otago and Nelson.
Chief Sales Officer, Bruce Proffit, says Wellington's fall is about more than individuals spending less.
He says the number of merchants, has dropped - with businesses shutting down as opposed to overall transactions changing in each store.
