Menzies Aviation has been slapped with a 150-thousand-dollar fine, for biosecurity breaches

Menzies Aviation has been slapped with a 150-thousand-dollar fine, for biosecurity breaches

    Auckland Airport
    Auckland Airport
It runs facilities for clearing imported airfreight out of Auckland Airport suspected to be a biosecurity risk.

The Ministry for Primary Industries previously ordered it to fully encase goods in plastic to contain unwanted pests.

Inspectors following up found six batches improperly wrapped, and ruled the inspection room unhygienic and not fit for purpose.

MPI says it didn't have the appropriate gear onsite for handling biosecurity risks - and no record of staff training.
