Many Kiwis are changing their online habits to avoid sophisticated AI scams

Many Kiwis are changing their online habits to avoid sophisticated AI scams

BNZ's latest annual scam survey has found more than half of respondents are limiting what they share online to protect their personal information.

Social media is now scammers' preferred channel - likely due to its casual, fast-paced nature.

BNZ Fraud Operations Head Margaret Miller says scammers want to make you rush, so they can catch you out.

She says if you get an unexpected request it's best to slow down and independently contact the person directly via a separate channel.
