A push to find homes for thousands of greyhounds facing an uncertain future

A push to find homes for thousands of greyhounds facing an uncertain future

This follows Racing Minister, Winston Peters' announcement that greyhound racing will be banned from August next year.

This is set be New Zealand's largest ever animal rehoming effort.

Greyhounds as Pets Manager Lisa Philp says they're looking to get at least two thousand greyhounds into homes as they finish racing, and efforts have already started.

She says they normally adopt around 10 to 15 greyhounds a month - and this will soon increase to up to 60.
