The Wellington Phoenix women's side's run of three unbeaten games has come to an end in the A-League

The Wellington Phoenix women's side's run of three unbeaten games has come to an end in the A-League

The Phoenix have lost 2-1 to Melbourne City in Porirua, conceding two goals inside the opening 21 minutes.

They were unable to find a way back into the contest until a goal on added time from debutant Makala Woods.

That forced a mad scramble from the Phoenix as they searched for an equaliser but they were unable to trouble the scorers again.

Woods has told Sky Sport she says they showed some fight, but not enough.
