Stats NZ figures show unemployment levels are four per cent for the June quarter

Stats NZ figures show unemployment levels are four per cent for the June quarter

That's a fall from 4.2 percent in the March quarter.

It's the first quarter to include the Covid-19 lockdown, with Treasury earlier forecasting it would reach 8.3 per cent

The level is an average across the three months - with figures showing unemployment since has increased to nearer to five per cent.

Stats NZ's Sean Broughton says there were about 39-thousand more recipients of Jobseeker Support than the previous quarter.

But he says that doesn't necessarily mean they're unemployed.
