Demand is increasing at one of Christchurch's charter schools, as it looks to open its doors to younger students

Demand is increasing at one of Christchurch's charter schools, as it looks to open its doors to younger students

Mastery Schools New Zealand Arapaki, which opened in February, currently has 64 Year Four-to-Eight students at its Hillsborough site.

It's hoping to open a Year Two-Three class later this year.

Principal Rose McInerney says the need for children that have learning difficulties, is more prevalent in Year Four-to-Eight.

She says they've had more interest for younger students as time goes by - and believes there will be enough to open a class around term three.
