Two new species of Weta have been found in the lower South Island

Two new species of Weta have been found in the lower South Island

One has been spotted on Stewart Island, while the other has been found in wet forests of southwest South Island.

These additions bring the total number of ground weta species to eight.

Scientists say they look and are genetically quite different, to other weta species.
