Will Ferrell is taking a break from filming his Netflix golf comedy after he suffered an off-set injury

The 58-year-old actor is said to have been sidelined from production of the 10-part comedy series due to a "minor" injury.

Production sources told TMZ that Will was due to shoot scenes at Bicycle Casino, just outside Los Angeles, this week, but he had to pull out.

It's not known how Will got injured, but it meant it was "impossible" for him to film the planned scenes "safely or comfortably" this week.

The Anchorman star is expected to return to the set of his as-yet untitled golf comedy soon.

Netflix confirmed the series in September, revealing it will feature Will in his first TV comedy as a fictional golf legend.

Luke Wilson will portray his friend, a pro golfer who has beaten Ferrell's character for the tour championship twice before.

Only Murders in the Building actress Molly Shannon will also appear in the series, as will Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, Jimmy Tatro, and David Hornsby.

News of Elf star Ferrell's TV comedy came after Will confirmed in June that he will return to Broadway with a stage musical adaptation of his 2020 film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

Will was quoted by Variety as saying: "We are more than excited to bring Eurovision to Broadway. The stage musical is a perfect place to continue our celebration of all the things we love about this amazing and unifying song competition."

The original film starred Will and Rachel McAdams as aspiring Icelandic musicians Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir, who dream of representing their country at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The new stage version is being developed with music by Savan Kotecha, and will be directed by Alex Timbers.

Alex said: "Will Ferrell and Harper Steele are my comedy heroes. And when I first saw their joyful movie Eurovision during the pandemic, it buoyed spirits during a very dark time.

"With this stage adaptation, I can't wait to bring that same mix of heart, spectacle, irreverence and awe to audiences across the world."
