    The number of new home consents is rising - with significant boosts for townhouses


    Stats NZ says more than 35-thousand consents were granted in the year ending October.

    The proportion of higher density housing like townhouses, flats and units - rather than stand-alone homes - is growing.

    More than 15-thousand townhouses were signed off on.
