    The cricket community is rallying around Damien Martyn after the Australian great was hospitalised suddenly in Brisbane


    The 54-year-old former righthand batsman has fallen ill in recent days, reportedly being placed in an induced coma amid a battle with meningitis.

    Former teammate Adam Gilchrist confirmed his hospitalisation in a statement on behalf of the Martyn family.

    Former New Zealand fast bowler Danny Morrison has sent a message of support to Martyn on social media, saying 'Kia Kaha' and urging him to keep fighting.

    Morrison played against Martyn shortly after the Australian's debut in the 1992/93 summer.
