A trans-Tasman affair to open next year's Rugby World Cup has been bundled into touch

A trans-Tasman affair to open next year's Rugby World Cup has been bundled into touch

The Sydney Morning Herald reports organisers have decided to stage the Wallabies pool game against the All Blacks in Sydney, after the opening weekend.

Perth was granted hosting rights for the opening match on October 1, which will see Australia meet either Hong Kong China or Chile.

The report says sources were concerned a Wallabies defeat in the opening match would deflate local interest levels.
