Out with the old, in with the new - for Greymouth's bridges

Out with the old, in with the new - for Greymouth's bridges

Regional development under-secretary Fletcher Tabuteau has just announced 13.4 million dollars to replace the William Stewart, Rough River and Moonlight Creek bridges.

It's part of a three billion dollar shovel-ready infrastructure plan - announced by Finance Minister Grant Robertson and Shane Jones last week.

Tabuteau says this will create jobs and improve the economic potential of the West Coast.

He says the bridges were well overdue for replacement - and no longer meet the needs of the local community.
