The Police Minister says photos of a police officer wearing a gang patch are "disappointing" and Police are taking the matter seriously

Images have emerged of an officer posing for the camera, wearing a Mangu Kaha patched vest.

Mark Mitchell says he's been advised the photos were taken in June, and the officer has come forward to take responsibility.

It comes as the Police Minister says he's pleased overall, with how Police are enforcing the Government's new gang patch ban.

He says there are probably going to be some people who want to test the new ban, but it they want to test it, they'll lose that test.
