    Anger at reports of tourists bathing in the picturesque Lake Wakatipu - some even spotted shaving their legs in the water


    One Queenstown resident has told the Otago Daily Times she's noticed more campers parking overnight, particularly along scenic, lakefront streets.

    She says there've been cases of people going to the toilet on the street, and an instance of three women shaving their legs and underarms in the lake.

    Queenstown Lakes District Council says freedom campers must be in a vehicle that's certified self-contained with a valid warrant displayed.

    The council issued more than 200 infringements for freedom camping breaches, between October and January.
