Sheryl Lee Ralph glues her feet into her shoes to avoid red carpet mishaps

The Abbott Elementary star first uses a local anaesthetic, Lidocaine, to prevent her high heels from becoming uncomfortable and then ensures they are secured to her soles to prevent any "flip-floppage" as she moves.

Speaking to E! News at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday (04.01.26), she said: "When you're coming down these red carpets it's not time for hiccups.

"I live by Lidocaine if the shoe even has the possibility of being uncomfortable and then I spray the shoe with spray adhesive, get my foot in and there is no flip-floppage."

Sheryl attended the ceremony, in a halter-necked plym Tony Ward Couture gown styled once again by her daughter, Ivy 'Coco' Maurice.

The 69-year-old star previously gushed at how much "fun" she has working with her daughter.

She told Byrdie: "I love to slay a red carpet. I've been having the most fun working with my daughter, Ivy, who is my stylist.

"It started as something we were going to do just a few times. But every time I had to hit the red carpet, she just kept getting better and better at it. So, now we work together.

"I am very happy she is so good at making these connections and giving other people their shots on the red carpet."

The Dreamgirls star also told how Coco had "totally elevated" her style.

She told People magazine: "[She has] given me a look that other women look at and say, 'Oh my God, I need to try that,' or, 'Why didn't I try being more colourful?' or, 'I can add just a little bit of sparkle.' And I'm like, 'My God, this is my child.'

"I did not waste one dollar on her education. Not one dollar was wasted."

The actress previously joked the "birthing pain" of having her daughter had proven to be "worth it" after her offspring accompanied her "on this whole award train" and saw her score wardrobe hit after hit.

She said at the Golden Globe awards: "I said, 'You get my style, Coco.' I said, 'You get me, you get the style, and let's do this.'

"And she's been winning - I've been on every best dressed list, including The New York Times and I thank my child. Every birthing pain was worth it!"
