A homicide investigation's been launched, following reports a man was shot in Auckland's Manurewa last night

Emergency services were called to Balfour Road after 11, where a man was pronounced dead.

Counties Manukau Detective Inspector Karen Bright says a cordon remains in place while a scene examination is underway.

Residents can expect to see an increased Police presence, but she says they don't believe there's an ongoing risk to the public.
