Nicole Kidman's "life would be over" if she lost trust in her husband

The 53-year-old actress admitted she'd be "devastated" if she was left questioning her life with spouse Keith Urban in the same way her character Grace in miniseries 'The Undoing' has been doing with her own husband Jonathan (Hugh Grant)

Asked how she'd respond in a similar situation, she said: "I'd be devastated, that would be it; my life would be over.

"I believe trust is a huge part of our culture. Do you trust when people tell you things? Who do you believe? What is belief in someone anyway? And should you just offer trust unconditionally or should it be conditional? And should someone have to prove they're trustworthy?"

And Nicole - who has Sunday, 12, and Faith, nine, with Keith, and adult kids Connor and Isabella with first husband Tom Cruise - thinks the questions are more relevant than ever within the coronavirus pandemic.

She added to TV Week: "All those are really interesting questions and a big part of what's on everyone's minds today, because I now have to also trust that you've taken precautions and are social distancing too!"

The Australian star believes 'The Undoing' shows typical human behaviour.

She said: "The focus in 'The Undoing' is really on someone who wants to believe something, chooses to believe it and doesn't want to see it differently," Nicole explains.

"We all have that as part of our human nature too – when your life is good, you choose not to see the cracks. Many people will watch the show and think, 'Can't you see it? It's right in front of you!' But then, as an audience member, you're forced to start going, 'Well, actually, maybe I'm wrong.'

Nicole loved working with her co-star Hugh on the show.

She said: "My calling has always been to act and tell stories through my voice – wherever I can contribute by digging deep and giving my heart, basically."

"I loved working with Hugh Grant, because he allowed himself to be vulnerable. When I see an actor open their heart and give a deep part of themselves, I go up and hug them and say, 'Thank you', because I know what that takes to give that much."
