The early childhood sector is keen to help design a new funding model for its teachers

The early childhood sector is keen to help design a new funding model for its teachers

The Government says it's putting 170 million dollars into staged rises over four years, to give ECE teachers pay parity with kindergartens.

Education Minister Chris Hipkins has signalled he's also looking to redesign the funding model.

NZEI / Te Riu Roa President Liam Rutherford says they'd like central funding for pay - as it is for primary and secondary levels.

He says collective agreements would also be another way to get greater transparency.
