Upper Hutt's Mayor is confident locals will still have easy access to police despite the station closing to the public on weekends

Upper Hutt's Mayor is confident locals will still have easy access to police despite the station closing to the public on weekends

From Monday, the front desk will only be manned nine to five, Monday to Friday.

Currently, it's open eight to seven on weekdays, and eight to four on weekends.

Wayne Guppy says people can still call 105 anytime, and there will be ways to speak with police in person if needed.
