The Ministry is encouraging anyone in New Plymouth with Covid symptoms to get tested

The Ministry is encouraging anyone in New Plymouth with Covid symptoms to get tested

The warning comes after several wastewater samples taken in the city returned positive Covid 19 results, likely from a single person

The Ministry of Health says it is most likely the positive results are due to recently recovered cases continuing to shed the virus.

It's investigating whether any recovered cases who live in the New Plymouth area have recently left a managed isolation facility.

It says it's is also possible other recently recovered cases from elsewhere in the country could have travelled to New Plymouth.

Additional testing capacity is being stood up in New Plymouth to support potential demand.
