A police officer's in hospital after allegedly being attacked by a man with a machete in Northland

Police were called to a disorder between two people in Hokianga's Waima, yesterday evening.

They say a man armed with two weapons approached the officers as they arrived - and he was tasered.

Police claim the alleged offender continued toward them - striking an officer- giving him moderate to serious injuries.

A 50-year-old man's appearing in Kaikohe District Court today.
