Full steam ahead for Auckland's City Rail Link

Full steam ahead for Auckland's City Rail Link

The first test trains travelled the full length of the new tunnels last night.

A three-carriage train left Britomart, rolled under Auckland Central and past new stations at Te Waihorotiu and Karanga-a-Hape, to Maungawhau Station.

It completed five trips, cruising at about five kilometres an hour to let technicians complete underground checks.

Testing will ramp up in the coming weeks, including brake testing, tunnel ventilation systems, supervision and security systems, lighting and communications.
