Sara Bareilles refuses to perform at her own wedding

The 45-year-old star has been engaged to actor Joe Tippett, 42, since December 2022 and the pair are planning to tie the knot later his year but insisted that she will not be singing at her own nuptials

She told People: "We are getting married this year, and we've made a few major decisions."

Asked if she will be singing, she said: "Oh God,no! Being someone who is around performance a lot, I really want my friends to get to relax and just have some champagne.

"If somebody ends up singing, I will let you know."

Sara - who is perhaps best known for her 2007 single 'Love Song' but also created and starred in the hit musical 'Waitress' - previously admitted a year on from her engagement that progress on her wedding was slow, and while it was often a topic of discussion, she was unsure how to approach the big day.

She said: "There's just been so many questions. We talk about it all the time, should we just go to city hall and just do the thing? There's another part of me that is like, 'But wouldn't it be fun to just have a great party with our friends and family?' And so I don't know, we're still figuring it out.

"I want lots of blankets in case it's cold because I hate being cold.

"The food has to be slamming and the music has to be amazing."

Meanwhile, Sara admitted that 'Waitress' - which was based on the 2007 film and tells the story of a small-town diner girl who finds herself pregnant whilst trapped in an abusive marriage - has finally ended up "where it was supposed to be" after the stage production was filmed and released on streaming.

She said: "What I love is that after all this time, we've ended up where we're supposed to be. We were always just like the little engine that could. ... I'm glad that it's captured forever and that a wider audience is going to get to experience what happened on stage on Broadway."
