A plea to those under rare red weather warnings, to take them seriously

A plea to those under rare red weather warnings, to take them seriously

Red wind warnings have been issued for much of Canterbury, Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa, with many other areas also under watches and warnings.

In Canterbury, a state of emergency's now in effect.

In Wellington, most public transport has been cancelled, and Mayor Elect Andrew Little says people should think carefully about what they do throughout the day.
