    The national lamb herd is growing


    Latest data from Beef and Lamb shows the national lamb herd has increased one-percent this season - to 19.66 million.

    It's due to a higher ewe rate with 1.31 lambs born for every mated ewe.

    Beef and Lamb Chair Kate Acland says there's a lot that goes into a successful lamb birth.

    That includes genetic improvements and farmers taking extra care and attention with their ewes.
