Two climbers are still missing on Aoraki Mount Cook - with searches stretching into a third day

Poor conditions on Monday hampered first attempts - including strong wind and rain.

Police say a weather window opened about 8.30 last night and a helicopter searched along the route taken by the climbers from Pinnacle hut, Linda Glacier to the summit.

It was unfortunately fruitless and the search continues today.
