Travis Kelce is going to "spend some time" speaking to his family and his Kansas City Chiefs team before making a decision about his NFL future

The 36-year-old American footballer feels "proud" of the Chiefs, despite losing their final game of the season to the Las Vegas Raiders last weekend, and admitted he will "figure things out" when asked about potentially playing another season later this year.

According to a video shared on X by The Kansas City Star reporter Sam McDowell, Kelce - who is engaged to pop megastar Taylor Swift - said: "First things first, I just love this team.

"I'm proud of the way we finished this, even though it ended the way it did.

"The guys still showed up and gave it their all, and that's all you can ask for, man.

"I've got so much love for this team, this organisation and the people here, so I'll spend some time with them, go through exit meetings tomorrow and get close to the family and figure things out.

"Either it hits me quick or I gotta take some time.

"I think last year was a little bit easier.

"I knew right away I wanted to give this one [season] a shot. We'll see."

The Chiefs have missed out on the NFL play-offs this season for the first time since 2014, and Kelce insisted if he does decide to continue his playing career into the 2026-27 season he will be ready to right some wrongs from the latest campaign.

Kelce - who has won three Super Bowls across his 13-year career - added: "Obviously we didn't do as well as a team but I felt like I came into the season prepared and ready to rock 'n' roll with the right intentions.

"The ball just didn't go our way in a lot of close games, unfortunately.

"If I do choose to come back that's something I've really gotta focus on and making sure I'm available and I'm ready for those moments."

Travis' brother, legendary Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, announced his retirement in March 2024 after 13 seasons.
