Kiwis are being urged to prepare for fire risks amid soaring temperatures today

Kiwis are being urged to prepare for fire risks amid soaring temperatures today

More than dozen heat alerts have been issued for the country this weekend, with temperatures set to top 30 degrees in some parts.

Metservice says temperature records could be broken in areas like Napier, which is forecast to hit 36 degrees on Sunday.

Fire and Emergency is urging people to be cautious as heat and wind can combine to create an increased risk of fire.
