    A 7-year-old has crashed a van on the West Coast after taking the vehicle for a spin


    Police say the child lost control on a gravel road in northern Buller on Tuesday, narrowly missing a tree.

    The van, belonging to a family member, was taken from an address north of Westport.

    The young driver and a 9-year-old passenger escaped injury.
