Kate Hudson is desperate to star in a movie with her mom Goldie Hawn

The pair want to work on a project together, and Kate, 46, joked that the only way they will is if she pens a script.

Reacting to the idea of a joint film, Goldie, 80, told People: "Oh, yes! I don't know what."

Kate jumped in: "I hope so! It's got to! I might have to go disappear into the mountains somewhere and just write it myself."

Goldie - who has Kate with her 76-year-old ex-husband, musician-and-actor Bill Hudson - also praised her daughter's talent before a Q+A session for Kate's new movie, Song Sung Blue, held at the AMC The Grove 15 in Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday (13.01.26).

Goldie gushed: "We're so deeply, deeply proud - not a word I use very often - but I'm in awe of Kate, and I think we all are.

"Kate's her own thing ... I was lucky to carry this little one in my belly and bring her to the world, and that's what I'm grateful for. She never stops to surprise me or any of us with her talent."

The Oscar winner - who also has actor sons Oliver Hudson, 49, from her relationship with Bill, and Wyatt Russell, 39, with her 74-year-old partner, film star Kurt Russell - added: "It's instinct. It isn't learning. We all live together. We're a family together.

And we have genetics that are very similar ... We learn by example. We don't learn by oration, rhetoric, none of that. Kate obviously comes from two people who make movies, and with that, you see how we behaved."

Goldie - who split from Bill months after her daughter was born, and finalised their divorce in 1982 after six years of marriage - Kate, Oliver, Russell, and Kurt try to separate their personal and work lives.

The First Wives Club star - who met Kurt in 1966 on the set of Disney's The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, and has dated him since 1983 - said: "It's balance - your life, your family, your kids, your things you want to do, and you care about. Books that we're reading, we share that.

"There's a lot of other things in life that are meaningful."

Goldie - who has not married Kurt because they believe their love means more than signing a piece of paper - added: "Our work is part of what we do, and it isn't who we are, and those are two different things."

Goldie is also stepmom to Boston Russell, 45, whom Kurt has with his 74-year-old ex-wife, former actress Season Hubley.
