Ariana Grande used baggy clothes to "hide away" during a difficult time in her life

The 32-year-old singer-and-actress has looked back on various fashion looks in her career and recalled how in 2018 - the year her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller died from an accidental overdose and months after a shocking terrorist attack at one of her concerts in Manchester, England - she was too busy trying to "process" what had happened to her to care too much about her appearance.

Speaking in a video for Vogue's Life in Looks series, she said of a photo of herself in an oversized sweatshirt and long boots: "This was a very strange time in my life.

"I was processing a lot, and I always wanted to hide away in something really cosy.

"But I remember that the boots still made me feel ****. I genuinely, at the time, did not have the mental energy to consider clothing.

"So the easiest thing for me was to throw on a sweatshirt and a ***** boot and that was how it happened."

Ariana recently admitted she thinks it would be "healthy" for her to take a career break after pushing herself since finding fame as a teenager in the Nickelodeon series Victorious.

She told Vogue Japan: "I think that it would probably be healthy. I'm not used to taking breaks. But I do know that I grew so much from taking space from music while I was filming Wicked... But yeah, these past few years have been pretty non-stop. And by few, I mean 15."

The Wicked: For Good actress explained that she is searching for more "balance" in the years to come.

She said: "Balance is the goal for the next 15 years. I don't think they will look like the previous 15 years. I think there will be more balance."

The No Tears Left To Cry hitmaker has previously spoken of how she experienced PTSD following the terrorist attack and admitted the dizziness and anxiety she experienced were symptoms of her struggle.

But Ariana is reluctant to open up about her own experiences because of the suffering felt by others after the terrorist attack, but admitted she struggles to speak about it without breaking down.

She said: "I hate ... yeah ... admitting it but it very much is. That's what everyone was telling me. It's hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss.

"But, yeah, it's a real thing. I know those families and my fans, and everyone there experienced a tremendous amount of it as well."
