Selena Gomez was in tears in the days leading up to her wedding after losing her handwritten vows

The Only Murders in the Building actress married producer Benny Blanco last September and while things went smoothly on the big day, there was a hitch beforehand when she misplaced her notes for four or five days.

But fortunately, Benny saved the day by finding the vows "right before" the wedding and joked he was happy he got to look like a hero to his bride-to-be.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he said: "She was crying because she couldn't find [them]...

"I found them, right before the wedding!

"I didn't look. I closed my eyes and handed them to her. I swear! I swear I didn't look.

"But how good is it? It made me look so good. It was like the best thing I could have done. I'm about to marry her and then I find the thing?"

Selena's vows then caused another problem, because the 33-year-old star had to call Benny to ask him to tell his friend Lil' Dicky - whose real name is David Burd - to remove the parts of his speech when officiating the ceremony that overlapped with what she was planning to say.

Benny recalled: "She said, 'Hey, just make sure Dave doesn't say anything about this part or this part because it's part of my speech.' And that was the whole opening three minutes of his speech."

The rapper joked: "I wanted to push back, but it was her wedding."

But he insisted his speech "really turned out great."

He added: "I'm very proud of myself."

Not only did Dicky officiate Benny and Selena's wedding, the 37-year-old producer served as best man when his Friends Keep Secrets podcast co-host tied the knot with Kristin Batalucco last year.

Dicky said: "We were heavily involved [in each other's weddings]. We didn't each have a best man, but I officiated his and he gave the speech from like my male point of view at my wedding, and it was great."

Benny added: "It was incredible. Unbelievable."

Not only was she crying before her wedding, but Selena recently revealed she was "sobbing" afterwards because she couldn't help but fear the worst.

Speaking at Fortune's Most Powerful Women conference, she said: "I would say that's my biggest conflict sometimes when wonderful things happen.

"I got married and then I was sobbing because I was like, 'I'm gonna die the next day.' I just think that's a little life thing."
