Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin bonded over finding fame at a young age

The 36-year-old actress is engaged to the 'Home Alone' actor and admits that she found it easy to relate to the star - who was just 10 when he starred in the 1990 Christmas movie - because she was only six when she started acting herself

Brenda told The Times: "He was the most famous child actor in the world, so we had very different perspectives about being child actors.

"But there's such an understanding there, even more so than just dating another actor. You get the grind. I definitely think that's a factor of why we get along so well."

The 'Running Point' star explained that neither she nor Macaulay were looking for romance when they started their relationship in 2017 after meeting on the set of the film 'Changeland'.

Song recalled: "When we met neither of us were looking for a relationship.

"We had loads of downtime just hanging out and I was like, is he going to be my set BFF? Awesome! And then I got a crush on him. And I was like, is he going to be my first fling?

"When we flew back to LA I literally said, 'See you never!' But that fling somehow turned into eight years and two kids together."

Brenda - who has daughter Dakota, four, and son Carson, two, with Macaulay - revealed that the pair don't argue with each other.

She said: "What's the point? Yelling won't get my point across any better, and he feels the same way. Once the kids are in bed, that's our time together and we talk."

Brenda says that having two kids in quick succession has solidified their relationship.

She explained: "He's good at lifting me up on a down day. My favourite treat will just show up, or flowers that say 'just cos' or he'll turn down the (baby) monitor (and get up with the kids) so I sleep in.

"I've never had someone tell me how much they appreciate me."
