The Government's being urged to invest in retaining public servants, before they move overseas

The Government's being urged to invest in retaining public servants, before they move overseas

A memo shows the PSA public sector union has asked the Public Service Minister to consider replicating initiatives in place in Australia.

They include a jobs exchange programme in the state of Victoria, and an academy that up-skills workers.

PSA National Secretary Fleur Fitzsimons says we need to try to keep our scientists, health professionals and civil servants here.

He says the Government's not investing enough in salaries and career structure.
