Disruptions are continuing this morning, following a night of severe weather in many parts of the country

Disruptions are continuing this morning, following a night of severe weather in many parts of the country

In the upper North Island, emergency services have been responding to dozens of reports of surface flooding, and trees falling on homes and power lines.

In the central North Island, about 70 properties near the Tauranga-Taupo River, near Turangi, are on standby to evacuate.

In Wellington, a roof has blown off a home... and in Canterbury's McKenzie District, Acting Mayor Karen Morgan says heavy snow has been affecting roads there.

She says people need to take care when moving about in alpine conditions, and anyone who doesn't need to travel should stay put and enjoy the view.
