A state of emergency remains in place for Nelson Tasman after being hammered by back-to-back severe weather events

A state of emergency remains in place for Nelson Tasman after being hammered by back-to-back severe weather events

State Highway 6 has now reopened from Murchison to Nelson, but NEMA says travel only if it is essential.

Tapawera Area School, Riwaka School, Brooklyn School, and Tapawera Kindergarten won't be open today.

Emergency Management group controller Roger Ball says there are many challenges ahead.

He says the decision will be made this week about transitioning into a recovery phase.
