Rob Lowe is "petrified" of golf carts

The 61-year-old actor is happy to take part in "crazy" sports and travel in other vehicles but he's not a fan of the slow-moving motorised buggies because he's always convinced they will fall over at some point

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week, he said: "I've always had a phobia [of golf carts]. I'll do crazy stuff. I'll big-wave surf, I'll heli-ski, but I'm petrified of golf carts. I think in a past life maybe... I don't know."

Clarifying he is fine with other vehicles, Jimmy replied: "Well that makes no sense because golf carts only go 25 miles an hour. Is it the lack of a seatbelt?"

The former West Wing star said: "No! I'll tell you what it is. I feel they're tipsy-toppy, ready to roll over all the time."

And Rob had to face his fear at Patrick Schwarzenegger's recent wedding to Abby Champion when he was "almost killed" in a golf cart.

He said: "At Patrick's wedding I almost wiped out. I literally almost got killed in a golf cart.

"I did a full double 360. I'm bad at math, so double 360, and that's how many times I turned.

"It was down a really steep hill, and the grass was wet. But! Movies, they give you stunt driving, so I just kept the wheel [straight] like I was trained to, and my friend said, 'You looked like a statue as you were spinning.'"

Despite his brush with death, the St. Elmo's Fire star had a great time at the wedding.

He gushed: "It was a beautiful wedding. I'm at that stage where all my kids' friends are getting married, so it's kind of wedding season in that way.."

Rob then did his best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression when asked what the father of the groom had said in his speech.

He said: "It's good to see everybody here. 'It's a wonderful day. And Patrick is killing it now with The White Lotus."
