Tara Reid has claimed she was drugged at a bar before being rushed to hospital

The American Pie actress was seen in a wheelchair before being taken on a stretcher following an incident at a hotel bar in the Chicago.

In footage obtained by TMZ, the 50-year-old star was speaking incoherently and seemed to slip off a wheelchair in the lobby.

She was helped back into the chair, before paramedics led her away on a stretcher.

Reid told the outlet the incident occurred at an unspecified hotel bar just outside Chicago.

She told TMZ Live: "I got to the hotel, I checked in, and then I went downstairs to have a drink and have a cigarette, and I got my drink and I left it at the bar, and I went outside, smoked a cigarette, and there was a bunch of YouTubers there in the lobby, like everywhere.

"And they're videotaping stuff and, you know, everything. It was just weird. And I went back to the bar, and my drink was covered up with a napkin.

"And I thought, 'that was weird,' cause I never put that over my drink. And then I drank my drink and without even finishing my drink, I just passed out. And before I knew it, I was in the hospital, eight hours later."

She claimed that medical professionals at the hospital told her she was "drugged", but that she doesn't know what drug it may have been.

Reid has been open about her past struggles with substance abuse and addiction, and insisted she is now in a possible where she can regulate her drinking.

She added: "Absolutely. I mean, I only had a drink of wine. I don't drink hard liquor or anything like that at all.

"I just had a glass of wine and a cigarette and that was it."

In a statement, her representative later told the Daily Mail newspaper: "Tara Reid has filed a police report after an incident in which she believes her drink was tampered with.

"She is cooperating fully with the investigation. Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time.

"She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone. She will not be making further comments at this stage."
