Another day - another new record for a teenage running phenom

Another day - another new record for a teenage running phenom

The 16-year-old's smashed the national secondary schools previous best for the 800 metres to win the title at this year's championships in Hastings - on Maori Plus.

Ruthe's bettered the record set by Brad Mathis in 2011 by 3.6 seconds.

The Tauranga Boys' High student yesterday obliterated the 36-year-old national schools mark in the 1500 metres by more than eight seconds.
