Te Pati Maori is promising to restore Maori decision making rights when it comes to fresh water

Te Pati Maori is promising to restore Maori decision making rights when it comes to fresh water

The party has said successive Government have failed to acknowledge unresolved rights and interests.

It's promising to reinstate Te Mana o Te Wai, and increase funding for iwi to protect catchments and aquifers.

It would also put a moratorium on consents for water bottling plants until a new allocation system's in place, and implement a commercial user-pays policy to support catchment restoration.
