Labour's suggesting the Free Trade Agreement with India was a rushed job

Labour's suggesting the Free Trade Agreement with India was a rushed job

The deal was a key election promise for the National Party - reached after nine months of negotiations.

It'll see India lower or remove its tariffs on 95-percent of exports.

Labour's revealing next year if it'll support the deal, which would salvage the agreement after Winston Peters announced his party would vote against it, robbing the coalition of its majority.

Trade Spokesperson Damien O'Connor believes it was naïve of Christopher Luxon to treat this as an election promise

He says clearly the Government put itself under a lot of pressure and he's sure the Indian negotiators utilised that opportunity.
