Seth Rogen felt inspired by Catherine O'Hara during his younger years

The 43-year-old film star has taken to social media to pay a heartfelt tribute to the Home Alone actress, who has died aged 71.

Seth - who worked with Catherine on The Studio, his acclaimed TV comedy - wrote on Instagram: "Really don't know what to say... I told O'Hara when I first met her I thought she was the funniest person I'd ever had the pleasure of watching on screen. Home Alone was the movie that made me want to make movies. Getting to work with her was a true honour. She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, generous... she made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it. This is just devastating. We're all lucky we got to live in a world with her in it. (sic)"

Judd Apatow also paid tribute to the late actress.

The 58-year-old filmmaker wrote in response: "[heart emoji] brilliant and kind. Riotously funny for fifty years. A really special person. (sic)"

Meanwhile, Ben Stiller has taken to X to lavish praise on Catherine, describing the actress as a "true great".

The comedy star also expressed his support for Catherine's family.

He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: "Catherine O'Hara. My goodness. Hard to explain the impact she had on comedy. For me, no one better. She was generational. Since SCTV she has been brilliant. Brilliant, brilliant. Funniest ever. Man. We lost a great. A true great. Sending love to Bo Welch and her family. So sad we lost her incredible presence among us. Will always look up to her. Man. (sic)"

Elsewhere, Ron Howard admitted to feeling heartbroken by the news of Catherine's passing.

The acclaimed director wrote on X: "This is shattering news. What a wonderful person, artist and collaborator. I was lucky enough to direct, produce and act in projects with her and she was simply growing more brilliant with each year. My heart goes out to Bo and family. #RIPCatherineO'Hara (sic)"
