Consumers could soon be incentivised for using less power, and generating their own power, during peak times

Consumers could soon be incentivised for using less power, and generating their own power, during peak times

The Electricity Authority and Commerce Commission's Energy Competition Task Force is seeking feedback on three proposals for improving the electricity market.

Under the plan, lines companies would be required to rebate when consumers supply energy into congested parts of the network.

Large electricity retailers would be required to offer a time-of-use pricing plan to all customers.

And customers of large electricity retailers -- who supply power through rooftop solar and batteries -- would be able to earn more, when supply power at busier times.
