Robert Redford's daughter has slammed fake AI posts about the actor's funeral

The Hollywood icon passed away in September at the age of 89 and Amy Redford admitted that his family's attempts to navigate their grief have been made more "challenging" as a result of false content shared online.

Amy revealed there has not yet been a "public funeral" and Robert's loved ones are still "working out plans for a memorial in the future."

She wrote in a statement shared to Instagram: "There have been multiple AI versions of funerals, tributes and quotes from family members that are fabrications.

"Renderings of my Dad, who clearly has no say, and depictions of my family that do not represent anyone in a positive light are extra challenging during a difficult time. We are grieving together, and we are all in support of one another.

"We have not had a public funeral, we are working out plans for a memorial in the future.

"Every family should have the ability to mourn, represent the person they lost and pay homage in the way that fits their values and family culture best."

The 55 year old acknowledged "AI isn't going anywhere," but she is hopeful it can be used in a "transparent" manner and called people to think carefully before creating fake posts.

She added: "There are many elements of it that were created with good intent. I simply ask, what if this was you? Let that be your guidepost.

"Let human authenticity live, inspire and be the connective tissue we all crave."

Amy had begun her post by thanking fans for their "overwhelming" support in the wake of the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid actor's death.

She wrote: "I want to thank you for the overwhelming love and support that has come by way of emails, texts, DM's, snail mail and sometimes drops on my doorstep since my dad's passing.

"It's clear that he meant so much to so many, and I know that my family is humbled by the outpouring of stories and tributes from all corners of the globe."

The All the President's Men star's representative Cindi Berger announced his death in September.

She said in a statement: "Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah - the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved.

"He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy."

As well as Amy, he is survived by his second wife Sibylle Szaggars - whom he married in 2009 - and his daughter Shauna.
