    Police are investigating potential links between a car fire and shooting in Palmerston North yesterday, near a children's playground


    A man was treated for gunshot wounds on Highbury's Marriner Street at 3pm.

    He was flown to Wellington Hospital had surgery and had surgery.

    Detective Senior Sergeant David Thompson says they're looking for any connections with a vehicle fire soon after on Karere Road.

    Police want to hear from anyone with CCTV footage, or any information.
